AMMAN Valley Paddlers canoe club sailed to victory in a canoe polo tournament as part of the Cardiff Bay Canoeing Festival recently. They won their first three matches and lost one before getting to the Final against Aberfan Canoe Club. At the close of the first half of the final, AVP were 5-3 down but after a tactical team talk with their coach Nigel Midgely, they made a comeback and dominated the second half and won the final 7-5. For a small local club to beat a team like Aberfan is a huge achievement and all the players rose to the occasion. Pics taken by Craig. Full Gallery

On 4th June we had a training session at Resolved Canal, where we practiced our moves and Nigel refined our ( improving ) Polo skills. We were joined by some players from Llandovery Canoe Club, who Nigel was also coaching.
The day started off by a 2km race up the canal, and ball skills were practiced during the day culminating in various polo playoffs. A good day was had by all. Full gallery.
